During this session we consolidated the grammar point 'used to'. We read some sentences and then explained those which applied to us. Then we thought about our childhood and compared it to our lives nowadays.
After that, we listened to Justin and Helen talking about an anecdote when they were children and the students answered the comprehension questions.
We continued the class explaining some tricks to use during the conversation and interactive phase in the exam.
We need to show interest, surprise and make the conversation going.
We can do so by repeating some of the words mentioned by the examiner, for example:
Examiner: Last night I saw a black horse in the park.
Candidate: A black horse?
Or we can add some expression of surprise: Really? Uh_huh, wow, yeah, yeah!
Or identify the main information in the speech to ask question about it.
Examiner: I'm really nervous about the exam.
Candidate: Why is the exam so important? When is the exam? What's the exam about?
Homework:Think about an anecdote when you were 10 years old. Be prepared to be asked more questions for information, or to show surprise and interest.
